Hard Rock Climbing Services has been providing guiding services in West Virginia’s New River Gorge since 1987. We were the first established rock climbing guiding service in the New River Gorge. Hard Rock Climbing Services has been specializing in rock climbing and rappelling for almost 25 years! It's all we do.

Hard Rock Climbing Services has a variety of rock climbing and rappelling courses offered in West Virginia’s New River Gorge and Summersville Lake area. We offer a half day climbing and rappelling course that is a great introduction for beginners that takes place near the New River Gorge Bridge.

Our full day course is specifically catered to your climbing needs. Whether you are a beginning climber or an advanced climber wanting to learn how to place gear, we can show you the ropes, while having a good time climbing in the New River Gorge.

If you are an experienced climber who just needs a belay, we can put you on as many classic climbing routes in the New River Gorge that you can fit into a day. We also offer rock climbing trips at Summersville Lake. This is a unique climbing trip where you can access climbing routes on Summersville Lake from Hard Rock Climbing Services pontoon boat. This climbing adventure is great for family and group vacations. Hard Rock Climbing also offers full day Scout Climbing Merit Badges courses.

Top notch Climbing Guides

Hard Rock Climbing Services provides AMGA certified AMGA Single Pitch Instructors on every climbing trip.

In accordance with National Park Service regulations, Hard Rock follows the 4:1 guest to guide ratio. We are able to accommodate groups as large as 24 and as little as 1.

Hard Rock´s climbing guides are all Wilderness First Aid and CPR certified. All of our equipment and gear is inspected on a daily basis and replaced as needed. Hard Rock has been in business since 1987 and has an excellent safety record. All of our guides are accomplished and active climbers.

No spectators are allowed to accompany the climbing trips in order to comply with National Park Service regulations.
