Our Mission

lake climbing trips Our emphasis is to create a safe and enjoyable experience climbing and/or rappelling in two of our nation's best rock climbing areas, the New River Gorge and Summersville Lake.

History

Tom, owner of Hard Rock In 1987 Thomas Wendell started Hard Rock Climbing Services, which was the first established commercial climbing guiding service in the New River Gorge area. Since 1989, Hard Rock Climbing Services has been on the corner of Court Street and Fayette Avenue, teaching and guiding beginning to advanced rock climbing, rappelling, and vertical rope rescue.

sport climbing After being in business for over 20 years Hard Rock has taken out thousands of people that have traveled to the New River Gorge area to experience rock climbing and rappelling as well as other outdoor adventures. We have also established a working relationship with many of the rafting companies during this time period, to provide climbing and rappelling for their customers, in the New River Gorge and Summersville Lake areas.

Hard Rock has received numerous positive recommendations about our climbing program from our clients and rafting company owners, with whom we have dealt with over the years.

Guides

Hard Rock Climbing Staff Hard Rock´s guides are active experienced rock climbers with intimate knowledge of the climbing routes of the New River Gorge. They take pride in the work they do and it shows in the way they approach each climbing trip. Safety, comfort and quality of experience are our guides´ first concern.

Trips

We have a number of trips to suit your groups´ needs. From the beginner to advanced. We are now offering full day Boy Scout Merit Badge trips, call or write for more info.

Hard Rock Climbing is located at 131 S. Court St. in the small, historic town of Fayetteville, in southern West Virginia.
